2019 International Forum of Genetics and Epigenetics in Precision Medicine

On April 19, 2019, DISCO study group held 2019 International Forum of Genetics and Epigenetics in Precision Medicine in Wenzhou, China. Professor Guixing Qiu, a senior member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor Jia Qu, director of School of Ophthalmology and Optometry were the co-chairperson of the 2019 International Forum of Genetics and Epigenetics in Precision Medicine. Dr. Zhihong Wu, Dr. Jianguo Zhang and Dr. Jianzhong Su were co-executive chairpersons of this forum. Dr. Nan Wu and Dr. Liangde Xu were co-secretary-general of the conference. The forum lasted for 3 days.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Runsheng Chen, a senior member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Jia Qu, Dr. Zhihong Wu, Dr. Jianguo Zhang and Dr. Jianzhong Su unveiled a plaque for the Big Data Institute of Biomedicine, WMU.

DISCO group gathered experienced geneticists and bioinformatician, innovative research and the most advanced research strategy in this international forum. Professor Runsheng Chen, a senior member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences gave a key note lecture entitled " Genetic big data, precision medicine and artificial intelligence". Dr. Wei Li, a professor of Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baylor College of Medicine gave a key note lecture entitled “3ʹ-UTR Shortening Represses Tumor Suppressor Genes in trans by Disrupting ceRNA Crosstalk”.

Dr. Yongxin Yang, a professor of University of Edinburgh, deciphered “Graph Embedding and its Application to Phenotype-based Gene Prioritization”. Professor Lan Zhu, the deputy director of department of obstetrics and gynecology at PMCH, introduced the cohort study of MRKH syndrome. Professor Jianguo Zhang gave lessons about clinical diagnosis and treatment of congenital vertebral malformation.

Dr. Hongwei Ouyang, Vice Dean of school of medicine of Zhejiang University, introduced the classification and regeneration of osteoarthritis. Dr. Qing Jiang, the director of department of joint surgery of Nanjing drum tower hospital, gave a key note lecture entitled “Application of precision medicine in perioperative period of osteoarthritis”.

The experienced geneticists and bioinformatician attending the meeting, including Dr. Fuchou Tang, Dr. Bo Gao, Dr. Feng Zhang, and Dr. Ping Hu, also gave oral presentations at the 2019 International Forum of Genetics and Epigenetics in Precision Medicine.

The Enlarged Academic Committee Meeting of Beijing Key Laboratory for Genetic Research of Skeletal Deformity was held in Wenzhou to discuss multidisciplinary collaborations on April 19, 2019. And several consensuses on basic research, transformation applications and platform construction were reached during the meeting.
